I don't wish to alarm anyone with this map!

Did you know this map is available from the Toronto Police Service's Open Data Portal?

Other sites use this data to create their own graphics.

This map provides an overall view of where different types of crime are happening in our community. These crimes can be random, crimes of passion, opportunistic, or targeted.

Generally speaking, Ward 25 remains a safe community to live in, although there are "hot spots".

If I am elected Councillor Ward 25, Scarborough-Rouge Park, we can work on different ways to help make our community safer.

1. Work with community and youth groups to create opportunities for youth.

2. Work with 43 and 42 Divisions and support their existing programs.

3. Help residents understand techniques to be proactive and use products and methods to make their home safer, and their car less vulnerable to theft. For Example: protective film on glass to make it shatterproof, installation of kill switches on cars to make it harder to steal, installation of outdoor cameras, and more.

4. Work with local Neighbourhood Watch Groups

Because I don't know if I'll be selected for the Toronto Police Services Board if elected—those positions are chosen by City Council—it's unethical for me to promise things like increased patrols, as some candidates are doing.

What I can promise is this: if I am elected, I will work with local community groups and local police divisions, as I am able. I will also inform residents throughout the ward about best practices for being aware of their surroundings and protecting themselves and their property to help reduce the risk of becoming a victim of crime.
