Keeping the Ward Informed

Some of my frustrations from past Councillors of Ward 25 (old Ward 44) was the lack of regular communication.

When there was some communication, it seemed to be a top-down approach and with little meaningful participatory action from the residents. Here's how I'll do things to inform you and also be open to information from you.

1. Multiple modes of contact. This will include a Facebook Page, an Instagram Page, direct email, direct phone number, website, and a published newsletter mailed to all addresses in the ward.

2. The Newsletter and website will have different sections for each part of the Ward. ie: West Rouge, Port Union, Highland Creek, West Hill, Dean Park, and East Malvern.

3. There will be information on: What's going on at City Hall, Construction activity and updates in each section of the Ward, how to get help with city utilities, how to access multi-lingual assistance, Parks and Recreation Updates, Transit and Infrastructure Updates, Community Event Updates, Development Applications, How to Participate with Neighbourhood/Local Sports Associations and Voting on Section 37 and/or Section 42 funds for community improvements.

I'll expand on what Section 37 and Section 42 Funds are, where they come from, and how I intend to keep them local, with the residents having a direct say on how these funds are to be used through Participatory Budgeting.

Participatory Budgeting gives you the ability to have a say in between elections to help choose local upgrades or additions!

The frequency of updates to the website and email newsletter will be more frequent.

The mail-out newsletter will be highly informative, well-designed, but less frequent due to the cost. I expect this to go out twice a year, but if something urgent comes up and requires more immediate community notice, a localized brochure can be scheduled to be delivered.
